Thanks for your update Juanita... I'd been missing your face. :)

The combination of fatigue and lack of mental clarity is lethal to any need for pacing...

Q: How many kids with ADD it takes to screw in a light bulb?
A: Want to go ride bikes?
:D

We still have snow and the lake is so frozen, people can safely drive their trucks across it.  The temps have lifted.  It had been -38C (-36.4F) but now it's a very balmy -8C (17.6F).  So that's nice.

I left a pumpkin out in the garden and all the sunflowers so the winter animals would have something to snack on.  I saw the most darling red fox last week.  And yesterday, wee baby deer walking behind the mama hoof prints were stamped into the snow.  Cute!!

They all ate my beet tops and lettuce last summer, so they know where the buffet is.  If they hadn't eaten all my tenders, I wouldn't have left anything for them for the winter.  But I'm glad how this all worked out.  The mental image of a fawn chewing pumpkin while I sleep is wonderful.  Little jaws working little teeth, enjoying a nice pumpkin sweetness.

Nice, eh?

Last week I increased my Benicar to 20mg between my 40mg q4h to settle IP that had been on a run since the beginning of the year and was in the week before getting worse.  So finally, I had a teeny tiny bit of energy back (I'm serious... enough to run one errand a week, take a shower, fix quick meals) and the pain I had been experiencing was greatly reduced.  I also cut back on my abx from q48h to MWF, thinking that the q48h schedule was too much for me.

A couple of days ago I switched to a q3h Benicar schedule to reduce my daily intake by one (from 9 to 8).

Well, today, after already running two errands since Monday afternoon (yes, after months of nothing I gave into the temptation to do more than I should), I took my mother to get her hair permed and walked to just a couple of the stores, and I CRASHED BIG TIME... LIGHT SENSITIVITY AND EVERYTHING.

For the first time in about two years I had to lie down on the floor while out in public (only because there was no couch or anywhere else to lie down).  Yes, I laid right down on the hairdresser's floor:shock: while my mother was getting her hair done.  I could do nothing else.

Grump, grump, grump.:?

Claire

I got into awful trouble at work early on in MP because there was nowhere to lie down, so I lay on the floor in an unoccupied interview room instead of a lunch break. Thought no-one would see me with the lights off. Unfortunately there is a glass wall to the corridor and a number of supervisors of other work groups could see in on their way out .
Interfering old so*s contacted my supervisor to ask what was going on.

sorry again, Claire
but how good you must both have looked once you got home again

Sallie, I used to lie down on the floor at work during lunch too before becoming totally disabled.  When my boss wasn't in, I could have used the couch in his office (as was suggested by helpful co-workers); however, his office has huge windows all around and mine was dark with the shades drawn.  Even then I knew I needed to be in the dark.

Glad I made you laugh.:)

Claire

P.S.  Mom looked great.  She's never had a perm before, and she got a body wave.  Nice soft, natural looking curls.  Although she hardly ever goes anywhere (like me), she messes with her hair.  The process was so long she thought she'd never do it again until she saw the results.  She's sold now.

“U.S. federal health authorities recommended … that doctors suspend using Rotarix, one of two vaccines licensed in the U.S. against rotavirus, saying the vaccine is contaminated with material from a pig virus,” CNN reports.

This is news via Mercola.   It is quite interesting and really on the mark!!  I get emails of recent news items from his web site.  His stance on Vit D and selling supplements "bug the heck out of me" ...:X   But he is on top of so many other pertinent health issues  makes me wonder how he could be so "off" as far as the MP and Vit D go.   He will get it one day IF he survives all the supplementings he supposedly uses?!

Check out the information as it is really important if you can stand all the crap he spews on Vit D ....:P

Lee,
I'm sorry to say, but I so regretted the day I signed up for his newsletter.

No matter how I tried, the only way to get the hugely annoying emails to stop coming was to change email addresses. :(

I would stay far away from his site just for that reason. But honestly, anything he publishes can be found elsewhere, correct? The report you quote was from CNN.

Does anyone facing the troubles of Th1 disease need to be bombarded with advertising for supplements and alternative treatments?

I truly hope he does come around on the vitamin D issue at some point, but how leading edge can he be if he isn't tracking with the latest science on D?

Did you know that he was at one of the first MP conferences?

Dr. Mercola's prime mission in life is $$$ motivated. One cannot make money by marketing nothing.....that is why he will never come around IMHO. He sells Vitamin D. I'd be curious to know if he takes it himself.

HI ALL

This is Fred in WV.  Dr Marshall once said that every one in the whole world will be effected in some way or other with one or more of the TH1 diseases.  I hope this helps.  I told my family doctor what Dr Marshall said and my family doctor agreed with him.

Remember, we are all in this together and I am pulling for us.

Your friend in Sarcoidosis

I'm depressed.  I don't know if it's a natural depression due to stress in my life or if maybe it's an IP thing.

I did go off all antibiotics cold turkey when I went to Greece, being afeared of the amount of sun I might necessarily encounter.  My doctor raised his eyebrows at this (after the fact because I did not consult with him on my plans).

I want to believe in IP.  I want to believe IP is the culprit.  But maybe, just maybe, the reality is that, as a species post BP Gulf Gusher, we're doomed.  Mayhaps our species is not long for this world.

That aside, I try to find the conviction that this matters in any sense at all.

Please, tell me it's all only a dream.

Odette

low antibiotics is one thing, very likely a good thing

Hi Odette,

I'm finding light exposure induces depression in me, not at once, but in days following, and for some time after.

Could your low mood / depression be the aftermath of the light exposure in Greece, even allowing for precautions?

Remember the internal voices of doom are really the bugs' last utterings as your immune system bops them on the head!!  On bad days I have to keep reminding myself about this too....

Sending you hugs

Morag xxx

Wish I had something profound to say to you :?dette, but I am bummed about the spill as well and try to avoid reading about it because there is nothing I can do.

There's also a chance that the abx was palliating some depressive symptoms.

I am now (after 3.5+ years, while still very much exhausted) getting sun exposure and doesn't seem to have any negative affects save perhaps some insomnia palliation (and as far as I am concerned there's nothing negative about that)... of course, we are all different.  As Sallie alluded to, perhaps you made a lot of changes all at once and are feeling that.

Hang in there!

Big hugs, Claire

P.S.  I just watched "It's Complicated" and it made me laugh out loud.

Thanks all, for the encouragement, suggestions, links, etc.  Yesterday was just awful.  But I've taken myself off news for a while, so maybe it will get back to where I can bear it again.

I don't know about the depression.  It's possibly a reaction to sun exposure.  But I feel like it's been slowly building and then just came crashing down after Greece  I'm even considering going back on Wellbutrin (which I haven't taken in two years).

Too, I've been having pretty bad allergies since about January, greatly exacerbated by switching from my feather pillow to a foam pillow.  When I figured that out and went back to my feather pillow, it got much better.  But the other night, for no reason I can identify, it got pretty bad again... to the point that I was very entertained by the interesting sounds my breathing produced.  Then there was the burning in my chest.  It felt very much what imagine asthma to be like.

Now for the last two days, I've had icky pain under my sternum, like what I imagine acid reflux is.  It's only for an hour or so, late morning and before I've had anything to eat or drink.

I've currently worked my way up to 1/4 Zith (2nd cycle) and 100 mg Mino.  I'm thinking that maybe I'm hitting some IP that I "skipped" over at higher doses (or like Claire says, was palliated by some of the abx).  I haven't added Clinda back into the mix, so that could account for some of the neuro stuff - depression & anxiety that I've been experiencing.

I had been coasting along pretty well before Greece.  I've gotten a bit "soft" and need to pick up my game again.

Cheers,
Odette

Oops, I first posted this over in my progress report but then remembered this is where I'd been posting.  So, below is a copy of what I posted there.  Morag, your suggestion made me re-examine my whole light exposure issue.

"Just checking in briefly.  I'm thinking the severe depression, like your face is etched in stone and you can't move it type of feeling down, was a reaction (delayed and possibly ongoing) to light exposure.  I'd done so well with light through winter and spring that I underestimated the effect of stronger summer sun.  I am being more prudent with respect to light now and feeling better for it."

Glad to hear you're coming up for air - the light sensitivity sneaks up on you but the clue is feeling so much better with a few light avoiding precautions.

Here's to continuing progress!
