Here are 2 good ones from the late, great.....
Shel Silverstein.
I repeat these often to the progeny.

Listen to the mustn'ts, child,
Listen to the don'ts,
Listen to the shouldn'ts,
The impossibles, the won'ts,
Listen to the never haves,
Then listen close to me,
Anything can happen, child,
Anything can be.

Alice ate from a plate that said, "Eat me."
And up she grew so tall,
Alice drank from a cup that said, "Drink me."
And down she shrank so small,
While everyone else never tried nuthin' at all.

'Course he also wrote a poem called "Dreadful" about someone eating the baby.

Blessings!
elizabeth

Good timing.  I was just having a discussion with another MPer about patience and how the MP is a great teacher of that virtue.  A few years back someone shared with me the concept of radical acceptance and that more than anything has made patience easier for me.  Claire

Well Claire, I guess it is surely the best advice there is for anyone wanting to be successful on the MP as you and I have surely learned first hand!  What is that other saying about patience being a virtue...it has certainly been one that I fought in the beginning!  Nice to be in that comfortable place of acceptance!:D

Blessed are those who can give,

 without remembering

And take without forgetting.

Footnote:  Personally, I know that I will never forget what the MP and Dr. Marshall's research has done for me.  I have taken much from many of you on site, who have supported with kind words, with helpful suggestions when getting through very tough IP,  with unselfish advice, when you yourself were not feeling well. :?  When you yourself , have been struggling to maintain a sense of stability, you have been there for me and others...you cheered me on when I was able to return to work...

No, it would be impossible to forget all that I have taken!

Been in Florida again and guess what? Visited Ponce de Leon State Park - you know, the fountain of youth and all that?  There is a beautiful spring there where the water is supposed to have magical properties... Well, I reckon it must have benicar in it *wink*

Claudia,

What a treat to get to view your pics!  I've never been to this state park...and enjoyed the virtual tour!  You look happy...you look energetic!  Deb

I just realized that if I lived another 30 years and made seeing every state park a goal, I'd have to visit a little under 5 parks a year:shock:, which means I'd have to visit, of course, every state.  I think I will stick to my goal of seeing the Grand Canyon and the painted desert and Greece.  :D

Way to go Claudia's Mom!

Claire

OH, it was only every Florida State Park... not every one in the USA... but it took almost 5 years!  146 parks in her "passport".

It was a lot of fun helping her get the last few parks this year. Amazing what a boost happiness gives us; I believe it is very important to remember how much that matters to our health.  Stress and depression are going to make healing that much harder. Joy and relaxation make our bodies heal better. Medicine is important too, but body, mind and spirit together are what put the "whole" in wholistic!

Claudia,

I found your note very interesting because when I was "struggling" with the decision to try to go back to work, my doc said it may be a boost for me physically and actually said he would be in favor for that reason alone.  Obviously, the meds and protocol are what gave me the foundation but we are a total package, as you say, body, mind and spirit that work together!

Nice!

Deb

Inch by inch,
Day by day,
Step by step,
All the way,
Piece by piece,
Bit by bit,
And little by little
You’re there.

If you can’t climb a mountain then climb a hill,
That’s much better than standing still,
There’s a way if you’ve got the will,
And little by little you’re there.

If you can’t swim an ocean then ford a stream,
Just remodel your basic scheme,
Don’t give up ’till you’ve reached your dream,
And little by little you’re there.

Good things that are here to stay,
Don’t get done in just one day,
Once you’ve started you’re on your way,
And little by little you’re there.

If you can’t save a million don’t draw a blank,
Just keep filling your piggy bank,
You’ll have only yourself to thank,
When little by little you’re there.

Every rose was once a bud,
One small raindrop starts a flood,
An acorn planted in the mud,
Will grow … you … know …

If you can’t walk a mile take one long stride,
Move along with a sense of pride,
Step by step ’til you’re satisfied,
And little by little you’re there.

Oh Morag, absolutely beautiful...and so perfect for those of us recovering!  I didn't even want to post a reply as to move your lovely poem up a notch but just had to tell you how awesome it is!

I shall print and put on my refrigerator, to keep reminding me of these little goals we so often forget that we are all accomplishing..day by day!

Hugs,  Deb:dude:
