Odette & Clair

I do not get specific images but I do get the kaleidascope colors and flashes of white light in all different geometric lines and shapes -  I have always been able to shut my eyes and see molecule like designes as a kid.   Just recently I had quite a colorful light show.  This seemed to coincide with some new meds I have been given so I just figured it was medicine related.  I told my pcp about it - and she had never heard of such a thing.  Magsmom

Magsmom,

Oh, I am sure there are more of us out there than any doctor would suspect.  Having had these since I was a kid, I naturally thought that most people did (that's my "if I peed green my whole life, I'd think everyone else did" theory).

Magsmom,

I wake sometimes to open my eye to flashing white lights.  Sometimes I have seen orange cotton balls, this happens when I've just ramped Z.  In the merck manual I read of possible retinal detachment with floaters and flashing lights that is in need of an opthalmologist check up. So far, I am controlling the sensitive eye blood pressure with Beni and meds and its working so for my eyes. I have'nt done C or Bactrim yet.

DWD wrote:  hi all pain in feet people :),

is it the whole sole of foot or mainly the heel- especially the inside of the heel?  and is it worse in the mornings?

i used to get that pain pre-MP.  it was plantar fasciitis... which is inflammation of a tissue that attaches to the heel of foot. (my job involved a lot of standing)... but it had resolved completely.

since being on the MP i have had several flare ups of it for no reason... ? Th1 inflammatory disease works in mysterious ways! .. well less mysterious now with all the MP research.

i find not walking around barefoot, gentle calf stretches, ice or heat, and orthotics to prevent rolling in of the feet all help.  or increase ben and wait for it to pass.

I'm glad that I'm on MP and thank you for that info.  I had bursitis (staph/overuse), L. heal spur (leaching Ca+), collapsed arches (perimenapausal), bone loss (was treated with a cortisone shot in foot!), sold a pair of pronated shoes (by a shoe store manager who knew of my condition and I'm not flat footed). I was given nsaids, coritizone shots, gastroc exercises, low dye strapping, ultra sound 3x a wk for 2 wks, no standing dx (evenually could stand no more than 3 hrs at job)-done by a foot doctor in 2003.  I eventually got better after 6 months and I don't run 3 miles 2x a week any more. I was diag with Schmidt's (Addisons) disease with my finger infections by a dermatologist 4 weeks earlier. I'm not herxing (sharp pain, burning, and swelling) on my R. lateral metatarsal head as much as I have been the last 2 months with Z.
Schmidts according to http://www.suite101.com/blog/daisyelaine/schmidts_syndrome, starts as Canidiasis, then leg cramps, Schmidts (gut disease), and may also develope into Sarcoidosis.  The Erythema Nodosum (I had 02) is caused by bacteria (strep), Fungal, Sarc (Lofgren Syndrome), Entropathies, Hilar Adenopathy, and Drugs (Sulfamides-Mpers don't take high doses).

So, I'd like to retitle this thread, "My Stigmata is Acting Up, and Other Unusual IP".  OK, so really it's just that my left palm is itching to the point that the scratching thereof might draw blood somewhat resembling a lopsided stigmata event.  This is not a body part that's ever given me trouble before... although just as I type this, I remember that in 5th grade I accidently stabbed my left palm with a pencil and the lead/graphite got lodged in my palm, so who knows...

Anyhow, Happy New!!!

expate wrote: At the risk of sounding *crazy*, I've got a question.  Since at least my late teens (i'm 51 now), I've been able to close my eyes and see/visualize different things.  I mean this quite literally.  The visions come in specific ways or formats.  It's not anything that I have control over, though it seems to be something I can invite to occur to some degree.  On the other hand, many times when I close my eyes the figures come without invitation.  It's not anything that I find upsetting though.

The most common visualization I have is the vision of the bust of a male in a line/pen and ink drawing, sort of in the style of a Albrecht Durer.  The face morphs fairly quickly and totally changes into a different character.  Each of the characters that presents itself is distinct and unknown to me.  It's sort of like a parade of characters from Moby Dick or a Dickens novel.  I actually quite enjoyed having this gallery to view before going off to sleep at night.

So, that is the most common presentation, but I have "conjured" a similar gallery of the female form.  I have seen other types of figures in color as well.  This has been a part of my life for at least 30 years now.

Well, this plenomenon seems to have stopped.  I'm not quite sure how long it's been since I've had this kind of visualization, but it's on the order of weeks or a month at most.  I can kind of tie it to something I was going to ask about, which is that a few weeks ago, when I would close my eyes, I would get some mild/diffuse flashes of light.  It would almost be brighter with my eyes closed than with them open.//

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?  I guess I should mention tht my (open eye) vision is unchanged.

:?dette

Odette and Claire,

I just read about your "visualizations" and was fascinated. Why? About a month ago I started having ones very similar to Odette's description of morphing figures.

I can't call them up at will, but when they occur, I find them both vastly entertaining and soothing.

How interesting that I would start having such "visions" now - over 3 years into the MP. I thought perhaps it was a sign of neuro healing, as the imaging is so calmly enjoyable.

Either way, this new development beats the heck out of racing thoughts and the incessant slideshow images I used to have. They were quite unsettling and incredibly annoying.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Humans are just so interesting, yes?  I have come to a point that I will not e"value"ate but just observe.  Cool that you begin to have calming visions, Alayne.  It is what it is.  I simply shall continue my journey forward and report/record my experience...

However, what is so awesomely cool about the MP is that weird physical stuff pops up in life and...the MP helps me embrace it.

Happy new,
:cool:dette

I see morphing objects (more like watching tv) when I am really really tired, overwrought, overworked. Right before I sleep, the objects will transform very fast (like my brain wiring is firing too fast). To me, it is like a fast dream.

But my sleep has been very disturbed for almost 10 years now. I think with the Ambien I take, the dreams are not as vivid (although I have heard the opposite for others).

Goobygirl,

I could relate to your description of your brain "firing too fast".  I have something similar that goes on and I've always described it as that feeling of ping pong balls bouncing around in my head...but I think your choice of words might even be more descriptive.  This has almost completely disappeared since I've been on MP...but occasionally it will still surface.  I really need to start charting this symptom to see where it comes from...too much light? foods? lack of sleep? timing of abx cycle? This started after my first flare with sarc back in 1990 and it rarely went away until I was on the MP for a few months.  To put it mildly, it was so annoying probably because it was a little frightening not to know "what" it was.  Now, I realize it was related to my disease.

It was certainly annoying at night because this is the only time I would be aware of it.  When I went to bed and it was just me and my brain in a tug-o-war, that is when I was aware of it happening!

Ears!
Not so much an unusual question as an unusual herx that I wanted to share.  I'm not worried about it, I just find it somewhat amusing and intriguing  I am always intrigued when I get herx in parts of my body that I never had in symptoms in (before I started MP treatment).  I guess they just hadn't materialised yet.

Well, this one concerns my ears - the external bits of them, the cartilege (?).  I've never been conscious of these before, oh of course I know I have ears. But you know, you can't move them at will, or particularly feel them.  That was until I got herx in them!

I get the burning tingling sensation in them, quite strong at times, that I've become familiar with as herx in other parts of my body.  Mostly on the top half.  Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I'm herxing, but I confess to being intrigued - what mischief are the bugs up to in there?  I mean, surely there's much 'juicier' parts of my body to attach!  ; )

best,
k

Hi K,

I too have those problems with my ears and the rest of my body.  It seems to me like the treatment working on my nervous system after all ears do have feeling. I can't think of another reason why this is happening and as the rest of my body is the same thats what I put it down to.

Sometimes this seems to clear a little, then I am too active, as I have been recently and they return with a vengance. Perhaps someone else has other views on this problem  it would be interesting to find out.

Take care, Lynn.

Yes, those symptoms of mine definitely lessen in intensity with more rest, less activity.

Claire,  Wish you could see me *chuckling* on this end...glad you thought of that...I take back my post, in thought and go with your idea of a massage table.  Well, I had thought of that too, but considering the amount of IP that I have after each massage, didn't think Odette would like that idea!:P

Hey, :shock:dette, are you paying attention!:D
