Many thanks for all the Birthday wishes folks. I thought you may like to know it was the best birthday I have had in a while.
Family came for a BBQ which we ate indoors and I was able to stay up and enjoy the celebrations. Today I am resting up.
Progress I hope.

Thank you ALL for the birthday greetings! I am at my Mom's as she is in the hospital. We will know later today IF they can save her leg. Its has been a rough time! My new pup has added JOY and LIFE to the pack .... I need to post a pic as he is the cutest black and white Shih Tzu EVER!! Thanks again to ALL!! Lee

The following is from a book (I believe entitled "Leap") that an MP friend  (that wink is to the MP friend who, of course, reads this thread and knows who she is) is sharing with me, and I think you might enjoy what it has to say about one day reaching "elder status."
I don't look forward to being called an "elder," "senior," or "crone." An elder is respected in tribal cultures, but we don't live in tribes, and I sense that people who make a point about "honoring elders" are merely being polite. Reb Zalman conceeded that "we need to find a better word." But Michael Meade the poet and mythologist, says we can make "elder" work. "When I think of an elder, I see the tree," Meade says, "An elder is vital and creative, an elder has courage, humor and salt.
