Kas,
Good job. It is hard to get these medical professionals to understand that we are trying to save our lives.
My doc was also cooperative about turning the lights off for me. I thought she felt it was a little strange not having the lights on, but she was great about it. I no longer ask her to do that since I am so far along on MP.
HANG IN THERE, WE WILL MAKE IT!!!!BARNEY

Having got my adjustments at work and blackout blinds fitted, I'm now stymied by another aspect of working within a big lumbering organisation!
Here's what I'm sending to the occ health doc, to get things speeded up:
I hope you can help me with a difficulty which has arisen.
As you know, my office in the xxx Department has been fitted with blinds to ensure protection from light exposure whilst I undergo treatment for sarcoidosis using the Marshall Protocol. Unfortunately the elderly computer in my office has effectively died and become unusable. I reported this to the IT Department on 7 April.
A replacement has been agreed, but despite explaining my need to stay out of normal lighting conditions, the IT department have not given an indication of when they will get round to installing a new pc.
Since 7 April, I have been forced to hotdesk around the department to get computer access, and because there hasn't always been a pc available, quite apart from the inconvenience to me, there has been a negative impact on service delivery. This has been pointed out to IT staff.
The extra exposure to daylight has had a cumulative negative effect on my health which has resulted in me suspending part of my treatment. This will delay my eventual recovery.
I would be very grateful if you would consider emailing xxx, the IT staff member in charge of the pc replacement programme, to explain the above health and safety considerations, and to ask her to give top priority to replacing my computer .
Fingers crossed for a speedy resolution - so far emails from my departmental manager, and then from the divisional director, haven't done the trick!
If no resolution by end of next week, I may be forced to go off sick.... I hope not.

Good letter. Hope it does the trick and you are able to continue on with work without having to go out on sick leave. I don't know what the legal ramifications are in Scotland, but in the US that letter would be making any employer covered by the ADA very nervous. Claire
